Answer. If you have cleared the UPSC Prelims, you must fill out the Detailed Application Form (DAF) / Mains Online Form 2026 by June 29, 2026 (until 6:00 PM). The Mains exam is scheduled to begin on August 21, 2026.

Follow these steps to complete the application online:

1. Visit the Portal: Go to the official UPSC Online Portal.
2. Log in: Click on "One-Time Registration (OTR) for examinations of UPSC" and log in using your OTR credentials (email/mobile/ID) generated during your Prelims application.
3. Select Examination: Navigate to the "Latest Notification" tab and select Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2026.
4. Complete the DAF: Carefully fill out the Common Application Form (CAF), which includes educational details, service/cadre preferences, and your choice of optional subject and medium.
5. Upload Documents: Upload the required scanned documents/certificates (such as degree, caste, or age relaxation proofs, if applicable).
6. Submit Fee: Pay the required examination fee (Rs. 100 for General/OBC/EWS; exempted for Female/SC/ST/PH candidates) online via Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, or UPI.
7. Final Submit: Review all entries and click "Submit". Save a copy and take a printout of the submitted form for your records.
